If you’re into clean eating, you’re likely familiar with the Buddha bowl; they are plant based healthy recipes, and if you haven’t tried one yet, you’re in for a treat!

What is a Buddha Bowl

A Buddha bowl is simply a bowl filled with various combinations of delicious greens, veggies, starches, protein, nuts and seeds, usually with a yummy miso or peanut-based dressing drizzled over top. Sounds delicious right? Buddha bowls are a healthy, delicious lunch or dinner choice, and a perfect use for those leftovers most of us have hanging around in the fridge.

On the weekends I like to take some time to steam and/or roast a few veggies. That way I can save time during the week, and just throw everything together for a quick lunch or dinner, when I don’t have much time.

There are virtually endless variations when it comes to making a Buddha bowl. I like to start with a nice bunch of chopped greens and load up the rest with plant nutrient rich foods.

The combinations are endless and you can get as creative as you like, I love to eat fruits with many of my vegetable dished to add extra nutrients, flavor and texture. You can use any combination you like. Some good plant base examples are:

Start your plant based healthy recipes with:

  • Kale (raw or steamed)
  • Spinach
  • Arugula
  • Spring greens
